Questo disco presenta in prima registrazione mondiale una ricca silloge di opere di Muriel Herbert, una compositrice inglese attiva per gran parte del XX secolo oggi quasi dimenticata. Le sue deliziose miniature vengono eseguite con un delicato lirismo dal soprano Ailish Tynan e dal tenore James Gilchrist (messosi in luce negli ultimi tempi grazie a una serie di registrazioni della Hyperion che lo vedevano al fianco del King’s Consort), ben accompagnati al pianoforte da David Owen Norris. Un disco di meravigliosa freschezza, che riuscirà a lasciare a bocca aperta anche gli intenditori più smaliziati.
